With Outlook 2013, it’s easier than ever to connect to your personal email accounts that support the rich capabilities of Exchange Active Sync – including your new @outlook.com email address. No longer do you need the Outlook Connector (OLC) add-in to do this.
Outlook 2013 uses newly-added support for the rich Exchange Active Sync (EAS) protocol that has become the gold standard used by smartphones and other mobile devices. EAS will sync mail, calendar, contacts and tasks from your Outlook.com account! We’ve heard many requests from users who want to sync their tasks from an Outlook.com account, and now you can.
It’s very easy to set up. In just a few minutes you’ll have the full power of the Outlook app for your personal Outlook.com email.
Go to File | Add Account.
Enter your Outlook.com email (or other email that supports EAS) and Password.
Click Next, wait for the connection to complete, and click Finish.
You’re all set!
Setting up custom domains
If you have a custom domain that is connected to Outlook.com, you can still connect it to Outlook using manual configuration.
In the Add Account window, select Manual setup or additional server types and then click Next.
Select Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service and then click Next.
Enter the required information, specifying m.hotmail.com as your server name.
Click Next, wait for the connection to complete, then click Finish.
Migrating from Outlook 2010 to Outlook 2013
If you use Outlook 2010 with OLC and you upgrade to Outlook 2013, your Hotmail accounts automatically get migrated to connect via EAS. There is no need to add accounts again. When you open your new Outlook 2013 you’ll be able to access the personal email accounts you had set up.
